I subscribe to Ken Jennings‘ weekly trivia email and was really psyched to see the first question since I quickly knew the answer. Additionally, it’s French-related:
What 1980s movie protagonist is accidentally dubbed “Pierre Cardin” in the French translation of his film debut?
I also got a page-a-day calendar where each date highlights a movie recommended by users of France’s most popular movie site. Harry Potter 7A was one day and the synopsis says that Harry and pals are working to defeat le Seigneur des Ténèbres (the Master of Darkness) which sounds a lot scarier in French. Will have to check in a book to see how they translate He Who Must Not Be Named.
UPDATE: The answer to the question is Back to the Future. Marty’s mom thinks his name is Calvin Klein because of his underwear. Pierre Cardin was a big deal in France in the 80s.
