Le cul entre les deux chaises

An American Spaniard in France or: How I Learned to Make an Ass of Myself in Three Cultures

The French aiment puns

I hate how much I love puns. They’re so silly and (sometimes) obvious but I just can’t help myself.

I’m glad the French love them too. Apparently, giving shops punny names or English-y punny names is a thing here (according to Stephen Clarke) and I love it.

This hair salon is a place that I go by once or twice a day and it makes me smile every.damn.time.

[A l’hair libre is a combination of both! A l’air libre means “carefree,” but hair is English for, well, hair.]

  1. Very good one. I have another one for you “L’oisive Thé” seen in the 13e arrondissement – Butte-aux-Cailles – see picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ms_abitibi/7169513063/.

  2. Yes! We love puns and English words :-) I can’t help but smile at even the silliest ones too.
