I just came across this pretty great video of Mark Bittman, American food guy and author of the indispensable How to Cook Everything, and Ferran Adrià, Catalan super-chef and the man responsible for the recent molecular gastronomy trend in modern cooking.
Bittman doesn’t speak Spanish (or Catalan, obviously); Adrià doesn’t speak English (why the hell would he?). How do they communicate? In French, of course, the language of love and of food.
