When the 80s cover version of “Lean On Me” was popular, I couldn’t find it at record stores. I was looking for a group called Club Nevo based on what my local DJs said. Many years later, I got an 80s compilation CD as a gift and there it was, “Lean On Me” by Club Nouveau. Oy vey.

  1. I like your random internet coincidences, because then we all get to revisit things like the 80s cover of “:Lean on Me” which I had otherwise forgotten about.

No wonder the French hate English words entering their vocabulary so much, given how much their actual language is butchered.

    • Glad to be able to take you down memory lane. I still love the song but must admit that listening to it without my nostalgia headphones on, it’s pretty terrible.

As to the French, it is sad that their lovely language is so endlessly mangled by everyone, but they *do* make it hard to pronounce many words. All those series of vowels and words composed entirely of vowels and letter combinations that change depending on syllable placement is too much for most people. h
