There’s nothing particularly Catalan about this mix and I can’t even begin to figure out why anyone would think so. Cabbage, red and green peppers and carrots aren’t exclusive to the region, nor are they particularly popular there, certainly not shredded like this.

Regardless, I bought it to make my version of kimchi: soy sauce + Korean red pepper paste or Sriracha sauce. It ain’t authentic but it’s not half bad if you’re jonesing for some spicy slaw.
