Le cul entre les deux chaises

An American Spaniard in France or: How I Learned to Make an Ass of Myself in Three Cultures

December means time for Catalan shit!

I was very happy to receive the following photo from friends of mine who now live in Maryland.

"I can't wait to shit something good!"

“I can’t wait to shit something good!” thinks the caga tió

They’ve taking the Catalan tradition of the shitting guy that I shared with them to a new country, with a new generation (they’ve got two kids). I am very pleased that my teachings have reached this far.

  1. I lived in Barcelona for years. Before I moved there, some Catalan friends of mine told me about Caga Tió. I truly thought they were leading me on. Then I found out about the caganer. So much poop for the holidays!

    • I’d write about the caganer but I never took pictures of the INSANE spreads people made of them in their houses. People I knew were really into it and would plan out the whole Nativity scene weeks in advance and then hide the caganer and make visitors find it. Catalans are the weirdest people I’ve ever spent a lot of time around.

tell me something good
